TALENTED Anna Hobson-Evans is following in her father’s footsteps – by joining the tailoring trade.
The creative 31-year-old has launched a new made-to-measure shirt business in Bury called Hobson Bespoke.
Anna’s dad, Wayne Hobson, is well established in the trade and has been a tailor in the town since the 1970s. Now Anna, from Ramsbottom, has decided to emulate her father by setting up her own business in a studio on Bolton Street using the family name. She said: “My dad started his business in his bedroom when he was 15.
He started making trousers and selling them in pubs. I used to go into the shop at weekends and I was his Saturday girl. I knew it was what I wanted to do.”
Anna, whose business is in the same building as her dad’s and who is part of a network of tailors and cloth merchants, said: “After numerous visits to Savile Row and training there I launched my business in October 2016.
"I am really looking forward to making tailors accessible to everyone The business is all about creating a bespoke item that people really want.
"Quality and details is key. I am keen on networking and keeping the tailoring tradition alive but balancing it with a more modern approach and branding.”
Anna, who plans to expand her business in the future by making women’s shirts, says her father is her inspiration.
She said: “I only hope I get the same amount of success as my dad and I want to represent the family name. He’s a hero in my eyes.”
