A MAN with learning disabilities has received recognition for long his dedicated service to a hospice charity.
Almost every week for 10 years, 33-year-old Philip Sykes, from Holcombe Brooke, has volunteered at the Sue Ryder shop in Bridge Street, Ramsbottom.
His decade of immaculate service was acknowledged by the hospice and support workers when he was presented with his certificate.
Suzanne Shepherd, the shop’s manager, said: “Phil is a valued member of the team and many regular customers call in to see him.
“On a Thursday morning, he always has a cheeky smile and a wicked sense of humour.
“Phil has hardly missed a week, he loves his job especially when the van driver arrives and needs help with the bags loading into the van.”
Mr Sykes receives support from Bury Independent Living Development, a supported living scheme for adults with learning disabilities who live in the Bury borough.
Jacqueline Bega, a support worker from BuryILD, said: “His whole team of support workers are very proud of what he has achieved.”
