A FATHER whose son was born 28 weeks premature has organised a quiz night to raise funds for the medical staff who cared for him.

Dan Jones has planned an Alan Partridge-themed quiz night at Whitefield Conservative Club on Friday, June 16 to raise cash for North Manchester General Hospital's special care baby unit.

Alfie Jones, aged seven, was cared for on the ward and his parents, Mr Jones and wife, Samantha, from Sunny Bank, have visited staff and offered donations each year ever since.

Mr Jones is a huge fan of the fictional TV and radio presenter - created by Steve Coogan and Armando Ianucci.

He said: "Alfie was born at 28 weeks and was cared for there so we go back to see them a couple of times a year and always at Christmas.

"We give donations or bring gifts of chocolate to thank them.

"They deserve the recognition, they're angels.

"We wanted to do something different this year and since me and my friends are massive Alan Partridge fans we thought a Partridge quiz night would be great.

"Anyone is welcome to attend and can take part in teams or on their own."

Anyone wishing to take part in the quiz night can turn up on the night and pay £5 on the door, which includes a raffle ticket.
