A GROUP of travellers have set up on land at Radcliffe Metrolink car park.
Photographs of two caravans and a 4x4 vehicle, on the upper floor of the Park and Ride car park in Spring Lane, were posted on Facebook on Monday morning.
Metrolink initially said they were aware of the situation and had reported it to police, who were in the process of obtaining a removal order.
But when the Bury Times contacted GMP, a spokesman said, as it was private land, the matter does not fall under their remit.
The vehicles were still in the car park on Thursday morning and, although they are not blocking any other vehicles, are parked across a number of spaces.
Metrolink said they are about to begin legal proceedings 'in order to ensure that the site is vacated and will be available for Metrolink customers'.
Out of service hours parking is not permitted on Metrolink Park and Ride sites during midweek, and motorists who do so face a fine of £100.
