CONTENDER, ready! Gladiator, ready!

For those who watched shows like Gladiators on TV in the 90s (and briefly in 2008) taking a run at the assault course seemed like a far off dream.

However, one man decided to make that dream a reality.

Alex Winters, a former Cbeebies presenter came up with idea when watching Ninja Warrior in 2014.

He said: “I grew up watching some of the great, classic TV shows of yesteryear like Fun House, It’s a Knockout and Gladiators.

“Like many others I dreamed of taking part in something like that, but never got the chance! Now I am giving the people of Manchester the chance to roll back the years and act like a kid again!"

Gung Ho! Seriously fun! 5k is returning to Heaton Park in April as part of its fourth year of touring.

Mr Winters said: "This will be a day out like no other. Anybody of any shape or size will be able to get round the course and we guarantee they will have an absolute blast in the process.

“We promise fun, thrills and spills for everyone taking part. We know Manchester can really go Gung Ho! after our previous visits. Let’s see if they can go even more Gung Ho! in 2018!”

Join in with Gung Ho! on Saturday, April 7.

The event partners with BBC Children in Need but participants can raise money for any charity of their choosing.
