A CAR crashed into a lamppost knocking out street lighting in the area.
Police were called to Bury Old Road in Ainsworth on the Bolton and Bury border.
Police confirmed that the accident happened at 5.15pm and officers remained on the scene until the council's street cleansing team could remove the debris off the road.
A spokesman said no ambulance was mobilised to the scene and that there is no suggestion the driver suffered any injury.
One motorist said: “A car has crashed into the lamppost.
