A BURY pub has been shortlisted for an award just months after reopening its doors following refurbishment.

The Victoria, in Hall Street, Walshaw, has been nominated in the Joint Investment category at the Ei Group Awards for Excellence

The pub, which is part of Ei Publican Partnerships - the leased and tenanted arm of Ei Group plc - reopened in January following a £115,000 refurbishment.

The inaugural award ceremony aims to highlight the accomplishments of some of the most innovative and successful publicans across a number of categories.

Richard and Lisa Moore, who took over The Victoria in March 2017, have now been invited to attend the awards gala at Coombe Abbey, in Warwickshire, in July where the winners will be announced.

Mr Moore said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted, it is testament to all the hard work the team have put in over the past 14 months since we relaunched the pub, restaurant and guest house.”

After refurbishment, the pub now has a new bar area with cosy adjacent areas for drinkers and diners, alongside a 48-seater restaurant serving freshly prepared food every day from midday and four en-suite guest rooms of varying size.

The Victoria also host locally organised craft and book clubs, support nearby Christ Church Walshaw and hold live entertainment nights each Saturday.
