YOUNG musicians will take to the stage as part of a three-day festival in Bury.

The Elizabethan Suite will be alive with music as 300 young people showcase the best of brass, string, woodwind and percussion.

A total of 16 groups, including concert bands and smaller ensembles will perform at this year's Bury Music Centre Festival between June 17-19.

The event is run by Bury Music Service Ltd, supported by Arts Council England, which is the largest provider of music education in Bury.

The service teaches both primary and secondary school pupils a range of instruments and gives them opportunity to perform within groups.

Gemma Price, head of the service, said: "We are delighted to be holding our annual Festival series at the Elizabethan Suite, and look forward to hearing our talented young musicians perform.

"Bury has a rich culture of performing arts and we are privileged to be the biggest provider of outstanding music education in the borough."

The concerts will take place at The Elizabethan Suite at Bury Town Hall, starting at 7pm on all three nights.

Tickets are priced at £6, or £5 for concessions, with accompanied children going free of charge.
