A BENCH has been unveiled in Bury town centre in memory of a teenager who was killed in the Manchester Arena attack.

The colourful bench was opened in Whitehead Gardens to remember 15-year-old Olivia Campbell-Hardy.

It has been painted blue — Olivia's favourite colour — and adorned with a plaque that reads 'Olivia Campbell-Hardy - All Of Me Loves All Of You' and bears the Manchester bee symbol.

The bench was opened by Olivia's mother, Charlotte Hodgson, during an intimate gathering of friends and family on Tuesday.

The memorial bench has been installed at Whitehead Gardens, where more than 2,000 people attended a vigil one year ago following Olivia's death.

Bury Council approached the family to ask whether they would like to mark the anniversary.

Council leader Rishi Shori said: "I am pleased that the Council could support Olivia's relatives by purchasing and installing the bench on their behalf.

"The idea was to provide a permanent memorial for Olivia's family and friends to visit so that they can remember her extraordinary life that was cut short in such tragic circumstances.

"As the memory of the Manchester Arena attack fades, we will not forget those from our borough, John Atkinson and Olivia Campbell-Hardy, who lost their lives."

The Bury Times understands that plans are being made for a memorial in Radcliffe to John Atkinson, aged 26, who was also killed in the attack.
