MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to do 80 hours unpaid work after he was caught in company with a woman in breach of a court order.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Jonathan Morris, aged 28, of Hazel Avenue, Bury, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on July 28.

He was also ordered to pay £170 in costs and charges.

A MAN has been fined £675 after harassing a person by using abusive or insulting words or behaviour on November 18 last year.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Dean Boothroyd, aged 28, of Stephen Street, Bury, changed his plea to guilty after initially denying the offence.

He was also ordered to pay £237 in costs and charges and a restraining order was made banning him from contacting his victim or going to Byron Avenue, Radcliffe.

A BENEFIT cheat has been fined £270 by Manchester magistrates after he wrongly claimed income support and carers’ allowance when he was employed and earning more than the allowed amount.

Andrew Linton, aged 55, of Ribbleton Close, Bury, initially denied the offences but then changed his plea to guilty at Manchester Magistrates’ Court.

He was also ordered to pay £320 in costs and charges.

A MAN who was made subject to a football banning order has been fined £300 by Manchester magistrates after he admitted failing to surrender his passport.

Conor Gavin, aged 27, of Berwick Avenue, Whitefield, was also ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to a community order after he admitted assaulting a woman in Bury on July 6. At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Daniel Evans, aged 36, of no fixed address, was ordered to undertake 60 hours of unpaid work.

He must participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £85 in compensation plus £85 towards prosecution costs.

The court also made a restraining order banning Evans from contact with his victim or going to Renshaw Drive, Bury.

A SHOPLIFTER who stole a bottle of vodka from a Bury supermarket has been jailed for six months.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Guy Morrison, aged 28, of no fixed address, admitted taking the alcohol, worth £35, on December 11 last year, using threatening behaviour, possessing tin foil to use in connection with theft and failing to surrender to court.

He denied possessing a Stanley knife in Pilkington Way but was found guilty following a trial.

In addition to the prison sentence, Morrison was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

A WOMAN has been fined £240 after she failed to provide police with the identity of a Mini driver alleged to have committed an offence on September 6 last year.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court the case against Shelley O’Donnell was proved.

She was also ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.
