Greater Manchester Police have warned drivers to ensure their cars are roadworthy after seizing three vehicles in Bury.

Three vehicles have been seized in Bury today after drivers were found to have either no insurance, no license or both.

The Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Officers said that other drivers have also been issued vehicle rectification paperwork for having faults with their vehicles.

This is a type of form which must be returned to the police within 14 days, otherwise, drivers will face prosecution.

If the defect isn't minor, the paperwork might not be offered and in this case, the driver would likely be prosecuted and have their vehicle taken away.

Officers said they have had a ‘busy’ day and are now warning other road users to ensure their vehicles are insured and fit for the road.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “As a driver, it is your responsibility to ensure that the vehicle you're driving is in a roadworthy condition.

“It is also your responsibility to ensure you have insurance to cover your use of it even if you do not own it.”
