Primary school children have been bringing joy to a Prestwich care home through lunchtime chats and laughs in Heathlands Village.

Over the past three Thursdays, The Fed’s care home Heathlands Village, has received visits from groups of year five pupils from King David Junior Primary School.

Pupils brought along kosher packed lunches and joined residents and tenants in the home’s activity room for a natter.

The Fed’s marketing and communications manager, Joyce Khan said: “The room has been buzzing every week with no evidence of shyness but lots of laughter and cheekiness on both sides!

“Our villagers clearly relish the visits - and the crisps too if their visitors are willing to share!”

The trips to Heathlands were set up originally eight or nine years ago, suffering a hiatus during Covid, and continue throughout the school year.

The Fed say they are very grateful to staff from King David who facilitate the meetups, including Mrs Rayna Glickman and Sophia Margolis, whose actor brother Ashley fronted The Fed’s ‘Not Alone’ film based on Tony Walsh’s poem.

Heathlands Village is a Jewish home rated ‘excellent’ by Bury Council and was rated good in their last CQC inspection.
