Pupils at Tottington High School say they had the "best school day ever" after meeting two ITV soap stars.

Coronation Street stars Cait Fitton and Liam McCheyne, who play Lauren Bolton and Dylan Wilson, inspired youngsters during the school's "student wellbeing season" this week.

The pair delivered talks on the importance of being resilient and perseverant, not succumbing to peer pressure, and following your own path.

Lee Barber, national director of secondary education of the Shaw Education Trust, said: “We are thrilled to have been able to give our students this opportunity.

"An opportunity to not only meet young people who have successfully joined the profession they wanted to, but who could inspire all of our students, regardless of aspirations of stardom, to be the best that they can be and to prioritise themselves.

“Cait and Liam are delightful people and a pleasure to have in school, and they have certainly left an impression on our students.”

Cait, from Oldham, and Liam, from Bury, spoke to pupils at the Laurel Street high school and followed talks with a hands-on drama workshop.
