A cake decorator has got a sweet surprise after winning the Made In Bury Weekly £2,000 Draw.

Jess Smith, who has worked at award-winning family-run patissier and chocolatiers Slattery on Bury New Road in Whitefield, scooped the prize with ticket number 20745.

Jess has supported the draw since 2018 and has been a cake decorator at Slattery for nine years.

She has always had a love of art and progressed in a career as a chef before eventually landing her "job of dreams" at Slattery.

The business attracts visitors from far and wide and is home to its large retail store, celebration and wedding cake showroom, Masons dining room and a bakery.

Phil and Debi from the draw team went to surprise Jess at work and she was "ecstatic" to find out she was the winner. She shared the joyous moment with her new wife and fellow co-worker Stacey, who was with her at the time.

Jess and Stacey got married last year, and Jess said she could be sensible and use the money to help pay off some outstanding costs from their wedding or she could have some fun with a nice break to somewhere like Barcelona.

Jess is also an avid cat lover with three cats at home so maybe another furry friend to add to the mix could be a "purrfect" way to spend her winnings.

If you would like to win like Jess, go to www.draw.madeinbury.co.uk for tickets.

The draw is a not-for-profit scheme with funds raised from the draw supporting start-up businesses in Bury with training and interest free loans.

There are 2,400 tickets available and for just £2 per ticket per week, you have a chance to win £2,000 every Wednesday.
