Bury has no shortage of great bars, restaurants and venues on offer and with Mother’s Day coming up, we’ve rounded up some great ways to treat your mum next month.

1. Kicking it all off is the return of the East Lancashire railway’s Mother’s Day dining experience on Mothering Sunday, March 10.

This day includes a meal onboard a traditional steam-hauled Pullman-style train as it journeys through the scenic route of the Irwell Valley.

With a sparkling drink to welcome you on board, a three-course silver service meal followed by coffee and after-dinner chocolates, this one is sure to be a hit with mum.

Bury Times:

Vouchers are also available for their other traditional luncheon events which run throughout the year.

The East Lancashire railway said last year was a sell-out, and that tickets are selling fast this year too, so hurry to grab one while you can.

2. If trains aren’t your thing, then fear not, West Ivy on The Rock is offering a sweet and savoury contemporary afternoon tea, featuring miniature versions of their menu favourites including mini cheeseburgers, sticky BBQ chicken bao buns and halloumi cheese fries and more on their savoury side.

Once you’ve polished off the savoury treats, there’s plenty of dessert with pistachio profiteroles, salted caramel brownies and lemon tart with raspberry coulis as just some of the options available.

It can all be accompanied by either tea or coffee, a Pornstar Martini or bottomless drinks.

3. Prefer the traditional Sunday roast? Then Bury Favourite, Cosalea and their partner venues are the place for you.

Both of the Cosalea venues in Walshaw and Brandleshome, along with The Hamers Arms, are offering a delicious Mother’s Day menu including Sunday roast options of beef, chicken or nut roast as well as a slow roast minted lamb shank and other delectable dishes.

Bury Times:

The Sunday roasts at The Hamers Arms have proven to be a hit since they returned when Cosalea took over the venue and the roast was even named Best Of Bury.

Also on offer are afternoon tea and bottomless brunch deals and local photographer, Stephan Redfern will be in attendance at the Walshaw venue to capture those special moments.

To add to that, all pre-booked tables will be given a voucher for a mini photoshoot in his studio.

4. If you or mum are fans of Cosalea but fancy something different, then they are also hosting an afternoon tea and prosecco event at Harwood Golf Club and will have local vocalist, Andrea Lynette-Young to entertain with songs from varying genres.

The Mother’s Day menu will also be available at Harwood Golf Club.

5. Now, if your mum likes to party, then ICONS in Prestwich, a bar and grill dedicated to the best tribute acts around, promises a fantastic evening with a Neil Diamond Mother’s Day Special.

The event runs from 7pm till 11pm with last entry at 8pm with tickets priced at £15 per person.

6. Finally, The Rock is running a competition with a £75 meal voucher up for grabs to treat mum to a meal at a restaurant of your choice on The Rock.

To enter, submit a photo of the “marvellous mum” you want to nominate and why they should win.

The competition closes on the 28th of February so be quick to get entries in!
