Ainsworth CE Primary School, 1972 with new school still being built
An 11-year saga showed no signs of coming to an end when this photo was taken in 1972.
Back in 1961, a new school in Ainsworth got the go-ahead but as this picture shows, it had still not been completed. Indeed, reports at the time suggested it would be another two or three years before the school was complete.
In the meantime pupils were using the old Ainsworth CE Primary School on Bury Old Road from where they could watch the building work continuing on the new site across the road.
