Bury College students have struck gold in a regional competition.

They have competed in the Greater Manchester Colleges Skills Competition, which involves challenges testing their technical skills against students across the region.

The contest aims to "raise the profile of technical skills in Greater Manchester and offers students, trainees and apprentices a chance to challenge, benchmark and raise their skills by taking part in competitions across a range of sectors".

As part of the series of events, the college hosted the creative media and computing sections of the competition with many other students travelling to colleges across the area.

The Market Street college students took home the gold awards in a number of competitions including fashion and design, painting and decorating, computing hackathon, entry hair and several performing arts areas, including musical theatre, music and dance.
