A homelessness charity has called on businesses in Bury to support their work as they launch new fundraising scheme.

Backup North West, which helps tackle homelessness amongst young people across Greater Manchester is calling on borough firms to sign up to its guardianship scheme which helps the organisation raise vital funds for its work.

The award-winning charity provides fully furnished accommodation and multiple services across Bolton to support young people aged 16 to 25 who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness.

Backup has a network of "guardians" from businesses across the North West including Bury-based companies, which include construction firm Veny Limited and PR company This Creative.

Lee Benjamin, director of Veny Limited added ”The work that Backup do has a massive positive impact on the young adults they house and support. I am pleased Veny can play a part in supporting a great charity."

The charity has also launched a partnership with Fundy Quiz, a charity quiz which puts participants in for a chance to win cash prizes, all while supporting Backup.

Fundy Quiz will create a new stream of much-needed income for the charity alongside a calendar of events including B-FEST on Saturday, July 13 at Bolton Arena.

Adding the "fun" into fundraising, people can take part in the quiz with a £5 donation gaining access to the 25-question quiz.

A new quiz launches every Monday ready for you to challenge yourself, friends or in the workplace. Not only do participants stand a chance to win cash prizes, but they are also directly supporting Backup's efforts to assist young homeless individuals.

"Knowing what Backup do for a young person who is homeless is the exact organisation that we wanted to sponsor. Without the support of businesses and individuals the Backup team wouldn’t be able to continue with their outstanding work. We’re very proud to become a guardian.”
