A KIND-HEARTED group of youngsters from the 5th Prestwich brownies have proved Christmas is a time for a giving in a successful toy appeal.

The group, which meets regularly at Prestwich Methodist Church, in Bury New Road, have donated dozens of toys that are to be donated to less fortunate children abroad.

The haul includes board games, teddy bears and arts sets and represents a magnificent effort of collection, according to brown owl, Helen Litherland.

She said: “The girls have come up with a brilliant effort to collect all the toys they have, either digging out their old toys from their attics and cupboards or by asking friends and family to give what they can. Their gifts will ensure that less fortunate children have a happy Christmas.”
