A FAMILY business is facing legal action after dumping piles of waste at a warehouse in Ramsbottom.

AWR Rent-A-Skip has submitted plans to turn Waterside Mill and Peel Bridge Mill in Kenyon Street into waste transfer stations.

But the firm has been given a legal notice after Environment Agency inspectors discovered they had been fly-tipping there.

The company now has less than a week to clear the site or legal action will be taken.

An investigation was launched after locals expressed concern about large amounts of rubbish which were dumped inside, posing huge safety implications for the surrounding area.

AWR already owns a site in Bolton but they have submitted the proposals as part of a company expansion.

They admit they tipped at the Ramsbottom building after an over-spill of rubbish from a busy Christmas period.
