PATIENTS will be able to visit a doctor seven days a week at a new GP practice in Radcliffe.

Contracts were signed on Friday for the RLC Surgery and the practice opened its doors on Tuesday at the new Radcliffe Primary Care Centre, in Church Street West.

It was set up as part of a Government scheme to provide access to GPs at times which are convenient for patients.

The practice will open seven days a week, from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to noon on Saturdays and Sundays, excluding bank holidays.

It is hoped that up to 6,000 patients will register with the practice over the next five years.

Dr Peter Thomas said: “The RLC Surgery has an exciting and innovative vision to provide quality healthcare to local people which is both flexible and convenient.

“We look forward to actively engaging with patients and the local community alike, to deliver health services geared around patients and fit to meet current and future health needs.”

Stephen Mills, chief executive for NHS Bury, said: “I am pleased to announce NHS Bury has awarded the contract for the new GP practice in Radcliffe following an open and fair procurement process.

“The new GP practice will complement existing local GP services to offer more choice, convenience and services where and when patients need them.”
