A SPINE-tingling beauty treatment has whisked its way from the glitzy boulevards of Hollywood all the way to Prestwich.

Staff from Serenity Health and Beauty, in Whittaker Lane, are offering customers an acupuncture session with a difference — because the needles go in your face.

Superstars like Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cher are reported to have tried it out and first in the queue to give it a go at Serenity was Guide fashion expert Jenny Minard.

She was placed in the capable hands of Jenny Sercombe, aged 30, who said acupuncture was a safer alternative to other anti-ageing treatments.

“Some people like things like Botox and plastic surgery to look younger, but they are very unnatural treatments as they use toxins and chemicals,” said Jenny, who has an honours degree from the Acupuncture from the London College of Traditional Acupuncture.

She added: “With facial acupuncture, the needles stimulate the body’s own healing response, which stimulates toxins and leaves people with a healthy glow.

“There has been quite lot of interest in it in Prestwich and it is getting more and more popular all the time.”

After being put in the lap of luxury, Jenny Minard gave the thumbs-up to the treatment.

“I was a bit wary of the idea of sticking needles in my face at first, but after I relaxed it was fine,” said Jenny.

She added: “I really enjoyed the facial massage I got after the acupuncture part and, afterwards, my skin felt a lot clearer, so I would definitely do it again.”

Jenny Sercombe also volunteers as an acupuncturist at the Creative Living Centre in Bury New Road, Prestwich, which helps a wide range of people from the community.
