PUPILS at Tottington High are helping to provide fresh water for children in one of the world’s poorest communities.
Year Seven students have raised hundreds of pounds for young people in Uganda. They held a £1-a-job event, which raised more than half their £1,000 target for the Jackson Standard School in Nangunga.
Now they are sending 60 pencil cases filled with gifts to the African children in time for Christmas.
Year seven tutor, Ms Lesley Martin said: “We are delighted to be part of this project and our pupils have really taken it to heart. Our aims are not only to raise money to support the school but, in time, to make contact with the Year Seven class and their teacher in Uganda.”
