A BURY school has revealed its plans to build a state-of-the-art media suite.

Derby High School has submitted a planning application to Bury Council for approval to refurbish and extend its drama studio.

Developers want to build a single storey ‘L’ shaped classroom extension to the existing building and create 68 car parking spaces at the Radcliffe Road site.

A futuristic silver and blue colour scheme would be adopted, with PPC aluminium doors and window frames and a modern lighting system.

The ‘Inspire’ art suite will include three new classroom spaces, a ‘media pod’ for filming and team discussions, plus a brand new dance studio and refurbished drama space.

The building is designed specifically to support new courses such as the creative and media diploma and the sport and active leisure diploma which is being introduced next year.

Headteacher Alyson Byrne said the development would be a “tremendous” facility for current and future students.

She added: “This investment of £670,000 on our present site is marvellous news for all of the students who are in our school at the present time and for those new students who will be joining us in September.”

If plans get the go ahead, the building should be ready for September.
