A FITNESS guru is drumming up support for a day of fundraising in Prestwich.

Exercise instructor Shirley Sadler is holding an African drums aerobics party at Parrenthorn High School in Prestwich at 10am on Saturday.

All profits from ticket sales and a raffle will go to The Christie in Manchester.

Mum-of-two Shirley, who has 65 regulars at her weekly fitness sessions at the school, said she wants as many people as possible to take part.

“We are calling it a Zumbathon. Zumba is a kind of exercise based on latin-dance moves choreographed to salsa and merengue music,” said Shirley, aged 36, of Walmersley Old Road, Bury.

She added: “It’s more like a party than a workout and can burn serious calories while toning the entire body. The event will have an African theme as it takes place a few days before the start of the World Cup in South Africa.”

Tickets cost £6 and are available from Shirley on 07722 033259 or by email at mail@zumba prestwich.co.uk
