The owner of a fish and chip shop threw tins of mushy peas at armed robbers who threatened him with a knife.
The 42-year-old was preparing to open The Little Chippy, in Killon Street, Bury, at 11.25am on Tuesday when he heard a knock at the back door.
Two hooded men forced their way into the shop and one of them threatened him with a craft knife.
The two grabbed £4,000 cash, along with the owner's laptop, mobile phone and a machine used for slicing donner meat, worth 350.
He tried to stop the men, throwing four tins of mushy peas from a nearby shelf at one man and punching th e other in the face.
But one of the men punched him back and held the knife to his throat.
Police are investigating.
