THE final brick has been put in place at the £10 million Millwood Special School being built in Radcliffe.
Work on the state-of-the-art centre in Abden Street started in October 2010 and the finishing touches are now being made.
Contractors ISG are expected to officially hand over the new school to Millwood’s headteacher, Helen Chadwick, on Monday. The school will then be filled with fixtures and fittings, including specialist equipment for children with a range of disabilities, and items will be moved from the current school building in Fletcher Fold Road, Bury.
Pupils will be able to start lessons in their new building following the Easter break in April. Ms Chadwick said: “The handover of the new school is like the last chapter of a fairytale for us at Millwood. The new provision has some of the best resources in the country for children with special educational needs.
“We have always said that going to Radcliffe is a great move for us and we are really looking forward to settling in."
