TWO pupils from Broad Oak High in Bury, who hit the airwaves on the school radio, are in with a chance of becoming the voice of the BBC World Service.

Fifteen-year-olds Mobeena Iqbal and Daniel Worthingtonproved such a hit on the school radio - BOSC FM - during its debut in May that they received invitations from the BBC to attend auditions in London next month for the voiceover role announcing programmes during the week-long Generation Next.

Generation Next will be a series of special programmes in December dedicated to understanding and exploring the world through the eyes of the next generation.

Fay Dunbar, school project co-ordinator, said: "The BBC are looking for a fresh new voice to announce programmes, read trails and embrace the spirit of the BBC World Service which is heard by 60 million people across the world.

"Mobeena and Daniel are just blown away - very nervous and very excited, but absolutely thrilled to bits."
