YOUTHS are thought to have started a blaze at a derelict factory in Tottington.
Firefighters were called to the site in Scobell Street at 4.05pm, where a mound of wood, papers and rubbish had been set alight inside the building, formerly occupied by the Roach Packing Case company.
Three crews attended the scene where firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went into the building to fight the fire with hose reels.
Crew commander Roy Grundy said there was damage inside the former factory but the actual building had escaped much damage.
He said: βIt looks like it has been started deliberately. There were reports of kids messing about in the area.β
