CELEBRATIONS to cheer the promotion of the Shakers will carry on during the three-day Forever Bury Beer Festival.

Volunteers from the Bury FC Supporters' Trust will be throwing open the doors of the Bury FC Social Club today (Thurs May 14), tomorrow and Saturday (May 15-16) as the festival marks its milestone 10th anniversary.

The ever-popular event has raised more than £103,000 to date. It attracts visitors from all over the country to sample the large range of real ales on offer at £2 a pint. There is also an extensive bottle bar with a large range of German beers as well as an array of ciders from around the British Isles.

Organiser Dave Giffard, Forever Bury chairman, said: "As always, the festival has linked up with a local charity for this year’s event and everyone at Forever Bury is delighted to be helping the Joshua Wilson Brain Tumour charity as 'Super Josh' was a Forever Bury junior member.

"Let’s hope that everyone attending takes a little time out to chat with one of the helpers of the charity to learn more about Josh’s short life and support them."

The Saturday afternoon session has an added fun element, with people being asked to come along in football shirts of whatever club or country they support.

Mr Giffard continued: "It would be brilliant to see some of the Shakers shirts from years gone by, so if you are coming along on Saturday please get your football shirt on."

He added: "This is likely to be the last festival held in the Bury FC Social Club as development plans at the ground will see it close soon. Forever Bury are already planning the next one which is hoped will move inside the ground."

The event will open from 11am to 11pm each day. Entry details are:
