A MUM-of-two took on a sky-high challenge for charity in memory of her dad.

Kerry Anne Mullan is encouraging her fellow Boltonians to sign-up for a September skydive in aid of Bolton Hospice after making the jump herself.

The 30-year-old skydived from 15,000 feet in the air back in April after losing her dad Eamon Mullan to lung cancer.

She said: "In January I lost my Dad and my world completely crushed.

"I was having a really bad week, really upset and fed-up, and thought I need to do something positive instead of mopping about. That's when I saw an advert for the hospice skydive and immediately called to sign up.

"It was an amazing experience and I loved every minute but 10,000 feet wasn't enough for me, I decided to go all the way to the top and do the highest sky dive in the UK at 15,000 feet. It truly was amazing and I'd do it all over again.

"As we were going up I kept waiting for the nerves to kick in but I was just excited the entire time. When it was my turn I shouted 'lets go!'

"My daughter Scarlet wanted to join in too and she keeps re-watching the DVD of my skydive.

"My dad would have said I was barmy but he would have been really proud!"

Miss Mullan's uncle Darren Stott had been a patient at Bolton Hospice and her dad, a lorry driver form Breightmet, had planned to go after seeing the care his brother-in-law had received.

Sadly Mr Mullan contracted pneumonia during the Christmas holidays and died, aged 54, before attending the hospice.

However Kerry still wanted to fundraise for the charity to thank staff for their work.

She added: "The hospice is an amazing place full of amazing people who work hard to give the best care and comfort to people going through the darkest times on the lives, not just the patients but the family too.

"I am so glad I got the chance to help them and hope to help them again whenever I can."

The next Bolton Hospice skydive takes place September 3, and a suggested minimum donation of £395 entitles participants to jump for free.
