TIME is running out to nominate Bury's Woman of the Year.

Is there someone who works selflessly for the community who you feel deserves recognition?

Nominations are still being taken for a chance to earn the coveted title of Bury's Woman of the Year to follow in the footsteps of Emma Rowbotham, who won the award last year.

Emma has a daughter, Melissa, with cerebral palsy and she and husband, David, have been foster parents to many children over the years and.

While she is not a professional carer, Emma is a shining example of someone who offers so much to her local community — and that's why she won the top prize.

Bury Hospice, whose motto is Touching Local Lives, is looking for nominations this year in three areas as it recognises the work done by women in the Bury community.

The first is Carer of the Year, for someone who cares for one person or many; the next is Volunteer of the Year, for someone who shows remarkable selflessness, devotion and service in their community and Business/Professional/Entrepreneur of the Year, an exceptional woman who has been a success in their organisation or field of expertise. Then there is the overall Woman of the Year — the big prize — which can come from one of these three or another lady who has excelled.

As well as winning Bury Woman of the Year in 2015, Emma won Carer of the Year; Carol Cadwallader, landlady of the Pack Horse Inn in Birtle, won the business award, while Jill Brady, the community champion at Asda Pilsworth, was selected as the winner in the volunteer category.

This year's Woman of the Year will be announced at a Ladies Luncheon at The Boltholt Hotel in Walshaw Road, on Thursday October 13, where Bury Hospice will also celebrate its 25th anniversary. The event is sponsored by Miller's Vanguard.

To nominate a special lady, pick up a form from the Hospice on Rochdale Old Road, with nominations closing in mid-September.

To attend the Ladies Luncheon, where there will also be a guest speaker, contact Pam Byrom on 0161 797 1748 ext 227. The three course meal is £32.50 per person.
