STAFF at a centre dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their families have thanked the borough’s Rotary Clubs for their fundraising help.
The Rotary Clubs of Bury have recently raised a total of £660 for Bury Cancer Support Centre and visited the facility, in Bolton Road, to find out more about the important they do.
The cheque was presented by Mike Colbert, President of the Rotary Club of Ramsbottom, and club secretary Kevin Winch.
After showing their visitors around the site, centre manager Jan Katana thanked Mike and Kevin for all their hard work.
She said: “It is because of the support of organisations such as yours which enables our unique and vital work to continue.”
Bury Cancer Support Centre supports anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis, and their family and friends.
Earlier this year, the centre extended its opening hours thanks to a £36,000 grant from the People’s Health Trust, using money raised by HealthSustain through the Health Lottery.
It now offers a new evening session every Thursday, aimed at helping people who are unable to attend during normal working hours, as well as its usual Monday to Wednesday daytime sessions.
