THE Conservative candidate for Bury South has launched his ‘Campaign for a Quieter M60’ petition.
Robert Largan, from Whitefield, is seeking to overturn Labour’s 4,922 majority in the constituency in June’s general election.
He said: “The constant noise pollution from the M60 motorway does have a huge impact on the quality of life for many local residents.”
He added that the M60 at Junction 17 is due to be resurfaced, which presents an opportunity to resurface the motorway with a special ‘whisper quiet’ tarmac—shown to reduce the sound of cars when used in other areas.
