A TEAM of determined adventurers has completed the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Bury Hospice.

The 17 climbers, all from Bury-based business Holchem, tackled the biggest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in under 24 hours.

The explorers had mixed abilities and worked together to ensure all members of the team completed the challenge, which meant scaling Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis and Snowdon.

They were supported by a team of drivers who transported the climbers between all three destinations across the 24 hour period.

The team was fortunate to have good weather for the first two climbs. However, the rain came down when they arrived at Snowdon, and stayed for the duration of the ascent and descent.

There were a few injuries, travel delays and physical exhaustion but the team persevered and completed the task, raising more than £5,000 for the Rochdale Road hospice..

Steve Bagshaw, marketing director of Holchem, said: “It certainly was a gruelling 24 hours, however, we stuck together and really helped each other complete the challenge.

“We are delighted to have raised so much money for Bury Hospice, a charity close to our hearts here at Holchem. We’re now planning how we can raise even more funds next year!”
