A BUDDING beauty queen got herself into a bit of a twist when a TV talent stunt didn’t quite go to plan.

Receptionist Charmaine Foster, aged 22, of Cornall Street, was chosen from hundreds of hopefuls to appear on well-known Sky TV football show Soccer AM, giving her the perfect opportunity to strut her stuff.

But her biggest screen appearance to date went slightly awry when she was invited to show what she could do with a hula hoop - and couldn’t quite keep up.

Despite the mishap, the chirpy part-time model saw the funny side and said she was thrilled with her experience on the London set.

“I had sent in a video of me hula hooping for three minutes and they wanted me to do it on air, but I just couldn’t get the hang of it when the pressure was on. It was a bit embarrassing but everyone saw the funny side,” said Charmaine, who works at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

She added: “My parents, Tracey and Andrew and my boyfriend Adam Porter were watching and they all said it was good and I have had dozens of people I haven’t spoken to in years emailing me to say ‘well done’.

“It was a bit of a case of Bury taking over the capital, as we had actor Ralph Little there, a few Shakers’ fans as guests and myself on the show and it was a great opportunity to get myself known,” said Charmaine.

“I applied weeks earlier and spoke to the producers and they said they wanted me to go on, but it was all a bit last minute.

“They asked me on Thursday and I appeared on the Saturday (October 4), so I had to get a quick spray tan and get to the studio for 7am.

“I really enjoyed the experience of having an all-expenses paid trip to London and learning about life on set, though I got quite a few odd looks on the train and on the streets of London carrying around a huge pink hula hoop..

“Hopefully it will create some interest in me and give me the chance to do some more work soon.”

Since appearing on the show, Charmaine has secured more modelling work and attended a charity event in Bolton.

She is now preparing to study criminology at Salford University next September.
