ARMED robbers stormed into Tesco supermarket in Prestwich at 8am today causing terrified customers to flee.
Two men, one carrying a sledgehammer and the other weilding a crowbar, attacked a security guard, confronted shoppers and fled from the supermarket, which is in Valley Park Road.
The pair damaged another vehice on their way out. A third man was waiting for them in a getaway car.
It is unclear how serious the security guard's injuries are or if anyone else was hurt.
Greater Manchester Police are urging witnesses to contact them on 0161 872 5050.
