The family of the man stabbed to death at his home in Bury have paid tribute to him.

Kevin Fielding, aged 41, was found dead at his home on Cameron Street, Bury on Monday November 30.

His mum, Christine, has been devastated by the loss of her son.

She said: "Kevin always had time to talk to anyone, and enjoyed talking to people in the community. Kevin made an impression on all who he met."

Adult Services at Bury Council supported Kevin as he had Asperger's Syndrome and epilepsy.

They describe Kevin as a gentleman, who was a very independent man, able to express his own wishes and needs. Kevin used to do his own banking and food shopping and he spoke a lot about the friends he had at Bury Market.

Kevin was also involved with the Contact group and liked to plan trips out with them, in particular going out for meals.

He would also plan day trips on his own and also went on holiday several times a year. Kevin's holidays were of great importance to him, travelling both in Britain and abroad.

Police investigating Kevin's murder are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Pete Marsh said: "Kevin's brutal murder has shocked many people and we are committed to finding the person responsible.

"At this stage, no one has come forward as a witness and we have very little information to go on.

"Someone knows something about what happened to Kevin, the attack was so ferocious the offender would have left covered in blood.

"Please, if you know what happened or the person who is responsible for Kevin's murder, find your conscience and call us, what you know could be vital to our investigation.

"We know the community are still very shocked by what happened and there continues to be a strong police presence in the area for anyone who may have concerns."

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4711 or call Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
