INDIVIDUALS in Bury who have gone “above and beyond” for the good of small firms and entrepreneurs in their community could win a Business Buddy award.

The new scheme is being launched by the region’s leading employer support organisation, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). The organisation, which has around 5,000 members in the Greater Manchester and north Cheshire region, has introduced the initiative to show support and recognise those who work tirelessly for the good of the small business community. It also rewards those who have helped make a difference for entrepreneurs.

Winners of the monthly award will be presented with a certificate commending their efforts, details of which will feature on the FSB website, in member newsletters and on social media.

FSB regional chairman Richard Gregg said: “The only criteria is that the nominated person must reside in the Greater Manchester or north Cheshire, as does the business or businesses their efforts have helped.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of the UK economy and the FSB thinks it is crucial to reward and recognise those who have pitched in and helped in a special way.“

• To nominate a person or organisation for an FSB Business Buddy Award, e-mail details to: robert.downes@fsb.org.uk. The inaugural recipient will be announced in November.
