Some of Bury’s 32,000 smokers have signed up to take part in Stoptober, a mass 28-day quit attempt.
They are being urged to kick the habit this month as part of the UK-wide Stoptober campaign.
Bury’s Stop Smoking Team will be present at Bury Light Night tomorrow (October 10) and the Mill Gate centre on October 22.
Anyone can still pledge their name to the campaign by searching ‘Stoptober’ online.
