A BUS became stuck under a bridge in Prestwich.
The incident involved a replacement bus for the Metrolink line, which was trapped under the bridge in Fairfax Road.
Passengers were on the bus at the time, but no-one was hurt.
The bus has since been removed from under the bridge.
It was reversed out after air was let out of the bus' tyres.
The incident caused visible damage to the top window and the roof of the bus.
Police were called at about 1.50pm, and transport bosses warned commuters that there could be delays due to the incident.
A police spokesman said: "A double decker tried to get under a bridge in Fairfax Road and became stuck.
"All of the passengers got off safely and were not hurt. The road was not needed to be closed."
A spokesman for Metrolink said: "Due to an earlier incident involving a replacement bus at Prestwich, passengers travelling on the Bury line will experience a delay."
