A DEVOTED couple celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with a party for tenants at the Red Bank Extra Care Scheme in Radcliffe last week.
George and Jean Holt, both aged 82, married 60 years ago and moved to Bury in the mid-1950s, where George served as a police sergeant and Jean worked as a dinner lady at Summerseat Primary School.
The couple, who have four children, celebrated on Thursday April 2, at the Red Bank site, where they moved in 2013.
George said: "We have many fond memories of our time living together in Bury, from first moving here in the 1950s up to present day living at Red Bank.
"It’s like one big family here, which is why we wanted to throw a party for all tenants with a buffet and singer to celebrate.
"We are having a separate party just with our family, of whom we are all proud. It’s such a celebration."
