THREE sisters from Radcliffe will be among 100 dancers taking part in a mass participation street dance next month with the team that choreographed the London Olympics opening ceremony.

Jasmine Karim, aged 16, and her sisters Mollie, aged 11, and Sophia, aged nine, showed off their talents at a taster workshop last weekend ahead of the performance on July 18 at the finale of the Mini Burble light and movement festival at Salford Quays.

Dancers from around Greater Manchester will be taking part, with weekly rehearsal sessions managed by Boy Blue Entertainment leading up to the event.

Boy Blue Entertainment earned recognition as the dance company that made heroes of hundreds of dancers at the centre of Radcliffe-born Danny Boyle’s London Olympic Games opening ceremony.

Laura Broome, Programme Manager for Quays Culture, said: "Our taster workshops this past weekend were a big hit, with local people captivated by Boy Blue's incredible energy and a sneak peek into the fresh new choreography.

"The call out for people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities to join the team and make Mini Burble an unforgettable night is still open."

The spectacular light and movement event has been commissioned by Quays Culture, and involves a constellation of 300 giant balloons being lit by individual LEDs and unfurled to create a giant illuminated floating sculpture of changing colours controlled by the public via iPad devices.

Anyone aged 10 and over has until June 12 to sign up.
