A HOMEOWNER at a modern development in Radcliffe has issued a warning to other residents after seeing his garden flood repeatedly.

Callum Wall paid around £1,000 for his lawn, among £20,000 of bespoke extras, when he purchased his home in Hardy's Drive, in the Hardy's Gate estate off Dumers Lane, but now finds it waterlogged whenever it rains.

Despite numerous visits by developers Bellway and reporting the issue to the National House Building Council, the 30-year-old has seen no action taken to resolve the issue, which he says has also affected at least a dozen other neighbouring properties.

Mr Wall said: "The garden floods whenever it rains, but for months and months they haven't done anything about it.

"I have been around the estate and there are several other properties that have suffered with the same problem.

"What worries me is that other people will still be moving in and having the same gardens installed that we did, without knowing that this problem exists.

"It has been an ongoing saga and it has got to the stage where I know they aren't going to do anything about it, and I will have to fork out myself to fix the problem."

The uneven turf was first spotted during an inspection in December 2014, but Mr Wall has been told in subsequent house visits that the weather was too wet or cold to fix the problem or that Bellway would not take any action at all.

He added: "If you get a bit of a shower, it just starts filling up with water. When we had all the snow a few weeks ago it just became a big pool in the back garden.

"It's horrible, my garden is just out of action. This is a big issue that I want everyone to be aware of when they are buying a property."

When contacted by the Bury Times, Bellway did not provide a comment on the issue.
