CCTV footage of a violent robbery at a Post Office in Radcliffe has been released by police.

The footage shows two masked men bursting into the Post Office, in Ainsworth Road, armed with a sledgehammer and crowbar.

Once inside the robber with the crowbar attacks a 28-year-old staff member.

The victim had to be taken to hospital with a suspected broken arm and bruising.

The offender then demanded money from a cash-in-transit driver before he hit him with the bar causing injuries to his hands.

Both the men ran off from the scene with a quantity of cash stolen from the till.

The incident happened at around 2.15pm on June 24.

Detective Constable Mark Robertson, from GMP’s Bury borough, said: “This was a despicable robbery where two innocent men were beaten with a crowbar.

“The footage is shocking and the victims would have feared the worst during this ordeal.

“The 28-year-old was so badly beaten he needed on-going treatment and I would like to praise both of the men for their courage throughout this investigation.

“I am appealing directly to the public to please call us with any information you have about this crime.

“This could have been your father, son or partner being attacked as they went about their daily routine at work.

"We need your help to catch these men and put them behind bars where they belong.

“If you recognise any of the offenders or have any information which could help us then please call 101. If you want to remain anonymous then you can also call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
