PIE lovers have raised more than £1,000 for charity on Bury Market thanks to a specially-created delicacy and help from a celeb.
Whippy’s Pies teamed up with comedian and TV presenter Paddy McGuiness to create a ‘Paddy Pie’ which was sold on the stall to raise funds for Cash for Kids.
The pie, tasted and approved live the radio by Paddy himself, is a hunter’s chicken pie with chicken, ham, barbecue sauce, and topped with cheese.
Peter Whipp, the pie’s creator, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response from our customers for the Paddy Pie, and we’ve raised £1,060 for Cash For Kids, which is wonderful.
“We’re still selling the pie, so anyone who fancies a tasty treat and wants to help a good cause should visit my stall on Margaret Block 12 every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.”
Peter is now working with Bury Market managers to organise a charity day on Saturday April 15 when the beneficiaries will be Cash for Kids and Bury Hospice.
