A COMPANY donation will be helping Stubbins Residents Association give a warm welcome to visitors.

The SCA Stubbins Mill has presented the association with £1,043 raised through the proceeds of raffles and its staff shop.

Part of the money will be spent on a new 'welcome to Stubbins' sign with other funds going towards projects such as refurbishing and replacing flower tubs and boxes.

Andrew Massey, a representative of Stubbins Residents Association, said: “We have a great relationship with the mill and it has been a longstanding supporter of the residents association.

“The donation is a great boost for our funds and we’ll spending it on areas in Stubbins, Chatterton and Strongstry.

“A welcome sign by the bridge is already in negotiation. We source all our supplies locally and employ our local scouts to help with weeding and give a donation towards their summer camp in return.”

SCA develops and produces sustainable personal care, tissue and timber products. It is the largest consumer tissue company in the UK and its Stubbins Mill site produces tissue products for customers across the UK.

Site manager John Kirwin said: “This mill has been making paper for over 100 years so we are very much part of the community.

“We are very pleased to show our support for the Stubbins Residents Association and the great work it does in the community. The local area benefits enormously from the efforts of its members.”
