A CHARITY worker travelled the length of the globe to meet fellow members of an international group in Ramsbottom.

Peel Lions Club was paid a surprise visit by a member from Cape Town, in South Africa.

Lion James Annison, a member of Milnerton Lions Club, popped into the branch's meeting on July 22 while visiting family in the UK.

President Sean Hill said: “James was staying in Ramsbottom while he was here, and after he saw our Lions sign at the East Lancs Railway, he decided to pay us a visit, and meet our club.

“It was nice to meet James and hear about his Lions Club and the fundraising they are active with in his local community of Cape Town."

Originally from the UK, James emigrated to South Africa in the 1970s, and he has been a Lion for more than 20 years.
