A RAMSBOTTOM brewery has good reason to raise a glass after winning three awards.

Brewsmith Beer is celebrating its success following The Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) North West Regional Finals.

Held annually at Bolton Rugby Club, its Brewsmith Bitter won gold in the standard Bitter and Pale Ales category and went onto receive the silver accolade for the best overall beer of the competition. The Brewsmith IPA won bronze in the Premium Strong Beers category.

The awards represents another big achievement for the brewery, with its bitter a winner in 2014 and once again being put forward to the national finals held in Sheffield next March.

Head brewer and director James Smith said: “We take an enormous amount of pride in producing our beers, and we think our commitment to quality and consistency is recognised through receiving these awards.”

More than 250 beers were entered into this year’s regional competition.

Fellow director Jennifer Smith added: “The awards mark another milestone for our brewery; we are particularly pleased the bitter beat off competition for the second year running in its category.”

“Awards such as this have given us confidence to grow and expand our business.

“Responding to local demand we will be hosting a bottled ales stall at Ramsbottom Arts and Crafts markets on November 8, December 13 and 20.”
