STAFF at Morrisons in Ramsbottom presented Bury Hospice with a cheque for £2,000 in memory of a store colleague.

The staff fundraised for Hospice Care Month in October by selling crocheted sunflowers, doing a sponsored nine-mile walk to the hospice and back, a sponsored in-store cycle, a head shave, bake sale and fancy dress day.

A cheque for £2,000 was presented to Bury Hospice staff on Thursday last week outside the store in King Street.

A spokesman for the store said: “One of the ladies who worked here fell ill very suddenly and was quickly transferred to Bury Hospice.

“They were absolutely amazing with her while she was there and sadly that was where she passed away.

“It was a very short and quick illness and when we found out we all agreed we wanted to do some fundraising for Bury Hospice.

“Everyone in the store used their own skill sets to get involved in different fundraising activities and we are so pleased with the amount of money we managed to raise for the hospice.

“Our colleague was well thought of and much loved and is truly missed.”
